{antojitos} - NEWCASTLE WEST

As someone who grew up in Southern California, just an hour and a half from Mexico, I’ve had my fair share of the best and most authentic Mexican cuisine. After moving to Australia four years ago, I struggled to find a Mexican restaurant that could match the dishes I prepare at home. However, I finally discovered it here in Newcastle. We tried the chicken burrito, which was incredibly well-seasoned and juicy, and the carnitas nachos, featuring pulled pork, which were simply outstanding. The texture of the carnitas was remarkable—definitely some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Plus, the tortilla chips tasted like they were made in-house. Overall, the food was amazing, and the service was excellent! This place truly understands the authentic flavors of Mexican cuisine.

Delicious! The food is simply divine, and you can really taste the love put into it. Everything about this restaurant feels authentic. The atmosphere is vibrant and cheerful, and the staff are extremely friendly. I can already tell this will be a regular spot for me!

I’m thrilled that these guys have finally made it into the city and have found a space they can truly call their own! At first glance, the venue may seem large and a bit intimidating, but don’t let that discourage you. The furniture, decor, and friendly staff create a personal and inviting atmosphere. I especially love the Kombi at the front, and the back area is perfect for kids. It’s fantastic to have fresh, simple Mexican food in town—though let's be honest, achieving flavors this good takes effort. I think this is the first time I’ve ordered ‘extra guacamole’ and actually received too much of it—#firstworldproblems! They also have a solid drinks menu; I can’t resist a can of Tecate! We were already aware that Antojitos was great, and now it’s even more convenient for us. We visited on opening night and did experience a bit of a wait, but that was to be expected. Give them some time to settle into their new location, and you’ll be rewarded with delicious food in a fantastic setting.

Easily the best Mexican i have ever tried. All the stories you hear about how delicious it is, aren't true because delicious is not a tasty enough word to describe this awesome little place!! I tried the fish, chicken, pork and beef and it's too hard to pick a favorite just try them all!

I wanted another burrito even though I already had a food baby from the first burrito. My PT will be pleased I resisted (I didn’t resist by choice, the kitchen had closed for the night). Without a doubt, the best Mexican I’ve ever had Mexican is my go-to cuisine!!
