The Town Wall - Newcastle upon Tyne

The food is great, the beer is amazing, nice location mix new and old, comfortable but no service. Not very cheap but price is honeat.

After noticing lipstick smudges on a dirty glass, my husband returned it to the barmaid who claimed they were watermarks. When condiments with cake remnants around the bottle neck were brought to the table, it raised further concerns about hygiene. The food looked appetizing, but upon closer inspection, the cutlery was dirty and had to be replaced. The fish was average, lacking freshness as it had a fishy smell. Unhappy with the barmaid's unhelpful attitude, my husband requested to speak to the manager, only to discover that she was the 'acting manager for the day'. She failed to take our complaint seriously and demonstrated poor customer service. This was our first and last visit to The Town Wall. We recommend that the staff, particularly the 'acting managers', receive additional training on good manners, hygiene practices, and handling customer complaints. It was unacceptable for the barmaid to question the need for clean glasses and cutlery, leaving us with a negative impression of the establishment. We do not recommend dining at The Town Wall in Newcastle.

What a lovely pub this is. We've just had Sunday lunch here and it was delicious. The place itself is cosy and welcoming. I love the whole wall dedicated to being library shelves. You could quite happily spend the whole afternoon in here. I can't believe I have never been in before. Definitely worth a return visit.

We came on a Mon after 7pm just for drinks. Relatively quiet. 2 ppl and 1 small well behaved dog. Asked if they were dog friendly and the lady behind the bar said yeah we are. My husband came in with the dog and the lady came over and said oh we are not dog friendly after 7pm as it was 7.15pm. I was a bit taken a back. It was a Mon night and quiet. We have been in before at 10pm on a Saturday night and there have been other dogs in. Anyway the forth across from this pub was very welcoming and dog friendly they welcomed us and said there are dog blankets, treats and water bowls available help yourself. Just a little review to maybe consider extending your dog friendly times. Thank you

I hadn't been to this restaurant in years, but decided to go for Sunday lunch today. It was delicious, great value, and the staff were wonderful.
