The Plough Inn - Newcastle upon Tyne

Visited over Christmas and we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this place.

I visited on 05/03/20 with a party of 4. The menu had changed since my last visit, but there were still plenty of great options to choose from. We all opted for the special £12.95 three-course meal, and we were all extremely pleased with the food, selection, and service. What more could you ask for?

My father and I decided to stop by on a busy Saturday without a reservation. Even though many tables were reserved for Christmas meals, they kindly accommodated us. The food was fresh, served quickly, and tasty. Great job and thank you.

I visited here with my father and a friend. It is my father's favourite place and we are so lucky it is so local. My friend over from NZ had scampi while Dad and I had the chicken Kiev. We were warned that this dish was cooked to order and would take around 25 minutes. Am I glad we chose this dish? Oh yes. Served with new potatoes and salad, it was delicious. A huge piece of chicken breast, cooked perfectly. Scampi was good too. It's worth going just for this dish, but joking apart, it was a quiet Thursday and still a few couples who know about this gem. I've been here with large and small groups, and the service is always the same. Efficient and friendly.

I made a reservation by phone on Monday for a table on Thursday, but when we arrived, the waiter did not have a record of it. Nevertheless, the waiters quickly set up our table, brought us drinks and menus. The restaurant had a fantastic selection to choose from, catering to everyone's tastes. The food was really delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were great. I was very impressed and would highly recommend this place.
