We stopped by for a quick drink on a sunny day. The outdoor seating area was dirty and the customers seemed a bit rough around the edges. They didn't have any IPA or craft beers, just regular lagers on tap. The wine selection was limited to standard brands in small bottles. The pint of Guinness was good, but I would have preferred a more refreshing option. The staff were friendly, but the place seemed a bit run down. I've heard good things about the food, especially the Sunday lunches, but based on my experience, it wasn't the best start. With some improvements, this place could be a hidden gem in this former mining village.

A nice place for cheaper eats Sunday lunch is inexpensive and wholesome. Easy parking friendly folk . What more could you ask for the money .

Just popped in after having a meal at the Indians,lad behind the bar very friendly, willing to assist in making us have a great night will be back understand they do good meals.

While on my way to another destination, I came across a restaurant with a sign advertising home cooked food. Despite the outdated entrance, I decided to give it a try. The tables were covered in white tablecloths with red napkins, giving it a charming and old-fashioned feel that I appreciated. Instead of a traditional menu, all the offerings were listed on a board next to the bar, with two specials available. I opted for the braised steak with vegetables, roast potatoes, and mashed potatoes. The steak was incredibly tender and flavorful, practically falling apart with each bite. For dessert, I chose the apple pie with custard, which was served piping hot and made with plenty of homemade apple filling. I was thoroughly impressed and would definitely return. It's worth noting that payments are only accepted in cash.

Another great value, great quality lunch. The steak pie is the best around, and the home made chips are fantastic. The staff are real friendly and helpful as well. Starting to make paying a visit a regular occurrence!
