Contribuiți la feedbackYoung barmaid Nicole took care of us so well!!!! Lovely little local pub with amazing staff!!! We will definitely be back xxx
This pub is in a bad way very shabby and not clean, sadly. We waited a very long time for roast chicken which, when it came, was a dried breast which had been oven baked it seemed, along with tepid slightly overcooked veg. We hadn 't planned to stay long but service was extremely slow so left us no choice. If we 'd not paid in advance we would have left and the food wasn 't worth the wait. Avoid!!
This pub could be great, it’s right on some of the best bike/footpaths in the region, next to 3 rowing clubs and should be packed. It was dead....for reasons we quickly found out. The staff were shocking! The girl behind the bar was beyond rude, she didn’t actually speak enough to be rude, she just grunted, scowled, ate pork scratchings and made it clear she didn’t want to be there at all (the conversation she had on her phone telling someone to f off because she didn’t want to work another f ing shift was nice for our 7 year old to hear), ignorant, unhappy, unfriendly. Tables were filthy, cutlery was just thrown onto the dirty tables, no condiments/sauces were offered. The food was bland, over cooked and basic (yorkshires were actually ok), the gravy was probably the best bit which I think they realised as they give you lots to drown the dry carrot/cabbage/peas/meat in so it’s palatable. Next time we’ll just walk in the other direction and go to The Ship in Wylam...a pub they should take some tips from. A pub like this could/should do well, the amount of people within walking distance give them plenty of chances. We definitely won’t be going back and they should rethink the sign outside saying they give a warm welcome as it’s a complete lie.
I used to be a regular in the Boathouse years ago. It has always been a friendly, traditional local pub. Earlier this year when I began walking my pup along the riverside,I wss delighted that the pub was still dog-friendly- in fact,I'd go so far as to say,it encouraged the many dog-walkers who traipse along Hadrian's Way throughout the year, not to mention locals whose dogs have always been welcomed , to stop for a reviving pint, cuppa, meal etc. You can only imagine my disappointment then when today I went striding in with my dog in tow only to be told that dogs are no longer inside. We were advised that we could sit outside today (freezing cold and raining vs real log fire? Hmmm, let's think... When I asked why,I was told they'd had complaints. Complaints from a couple of snotty g*ts who visit occasionally has ended a decades' long tradition. Oh well, we'll just go to The Engine Inn in Walbottle instead.
We like to support local businesses and the Branzinos restaurant at the old Boathouse pub being only a mile or so away from us is perfect for lunch or evening meal. The restaurant is right on the River Tyne next to Newburn Bridge Our latest visit was on a very wet Saturday lunchtime but we soon forgot about the downpour outside We were shown to our table and immediately noticed despite the awful weather the place was busy Pizzas and Pastas are mostly less than ten pounds and are extremely good value. Despite the price there is no scrimping on ingredients We had the Risotto Roma., Picante Pizza and a Meat feast pizza, we all commented on how flavoursome they were Service was good in nice surroundings which reflect the Boathouses nautical past With drinks the bill came to just over thirty pounds. You can’t go wrong
