Mean-eyed Cat - Newcastle upon Tyne

Large small handcrafted micro pub with a really diverse bunch of beers on tap, cask and cans. Had a cognac-infused cake stout that was phenomenal and truly unique! Very recommended.

Large micro pub, friendly staff, very good selection of barrels and drawing beer. Cask ales well kept. Eclectic interior (good) and a few tables outside. Very civilized. Nice place for one or two hours near the city centre. Sensible Kovid rules in place when I visited; Table service.

A hidden gem of a restaurant! They have an impressive selection of excellent beers. The hostess was always busy taking care of everything. I'm not sure if it's due to post-COVID adjustments, but they've done a fantastic job managing the space to avoid overcrowding. There’s a lovely outdoor area in the back, which is perfect for enjoying sunny days. I’ll definitely be returning!

If you combined all the elements needed to create the perfect bar and sprinkled in a touch of magic, you’d end up with the Mean Eyed Cat! It's a lively setting filled with wonderful people, along with an impressive selection of carefully sourced, fresh, and perfectly poured cask and keg beers (served in more than just any ordinary glass!). The location is fantastic, and you can always count on a warm welcome. There's also a lovely outdoor space at the back. It truly is a happy spot in the city!
