Happiness Inn - Newcastle upon Tyne

Day after CNY food was poor today. I fancied crispy roast pork and duck with rice. I had the dish here before and it was great, but today the pork was not fresh, felt tough and the skin was not crispy at all ! And after looking at an older photo, I can see the portion is smaller and no veg. So I was really disappointed and annoyed.

One of my favorite restaurants, I never had any reason to complain, in my opinion not one Chinese diner beats the food of this place, the decor needs a serious update! But that is something that is not of any great importance to me, as long the food is good I am happy!

The food at this restaurant is seriously delicious. We tried the chicken in oyster sauce with fruit syrup and I highly recommend it. Our meals arrived promptly after we placed our order!

This experience was a good one. We had masses of food cooked fresh and in a traditional manner. As in the staff don't speak much English which was difficult for us. The portions are good sizes and variety vast. It's not a plush palace more an asian cafe than restaurant, but good quality. Parking across the road isn't cheap but it's easily accessible by all modes of public transport in the area.

There isn’t an option to leave a review without any stars. If I could I will not give them any stars. I went to have lunch with a friend and my 4 months old baby yesterday around 2 pm. There were only three tables in the restaurant including us. My 4 MONTHS OLD old baby was a bit unsettle and my friend was trying to help settling her down walking around near the entrance of the restaurant area and a waitress (who seems to be in charge) told her to walk outside a bit because my baby was crying ! I can’t believe what I saw and heard. It was cold in the restaurant and she even ask my friend to take my baby a bit outside the restaurant area which is freezing cold and for a baby. We left the restaurant immediately. She can’t even tolerate a 4 months old baby. It was an awful experience and will never go back. Please think twice if you have a baby don’t visit as they are not very family friendly. Just very disappointed.
