Gosforth Chippy - Newcastle upon Tyne

The food at Gosforth chippy is consistently fantastic! We've been ordering from here for a while now and have never had any issues with our orders. Highly recommend their delicious dishes!

This restaurant is a beloved part of the community, offering fantastic food and service that makes you feel like part of the family. I had never tried fish and chips prepared with beef dripping before, but it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the Newcastle area.

I have always been a fan of this fish and chip shop, but I was disappointed with the food tonight. It didn't taste as good as usual - I'm not sure if they've changed their ingredients. Additionally, I noticed that I received one less cod bite for the same price that I used to pay for four.

I have been going to Gosfoth Chippy for nearly 20 years but tonight was my last time . I know the cost of living rises mean that take aways have to either cut portion sizes and or put up prices . They have done both but worst of all they are trying to cut quality too . Discusting fish , skin on both sides and was rubbery !! Horrible greasy chips !! So sad . Never again !!

I have been to this chippy a number of times. It has always been on the better side of average, but I have always returned as it is local and the service is very quick, even when it is busy. On our last visit we called in for our tea prior to driving to the ferry in Cairnryan for a short trip to Northern Ireland, so left our pets in the pet shop two doors down before returning to the chippy. On leaving the car in the space outside the shop, we were angrily gestured at through the window by the owner, to which we attempted to say we would be in to order food in a moment. On returning and walking into the shop to order food we were repeatedly verbally abused by the owner and staff, who claimed they own that space, that we were disrespecting their business, and that we hadn 't really been intending to come in and only did it because they shouted at us. To be honest, it all seemed a bit unnecessary and over the top. I would have scored this 3/5 had it not been for the verbal abuse, so I have deducted one point to reflect this. I am not going to be petty and unreasonably give it 1 the food is fine, the attitude in my view is not. We certainly won 't be back, but it isn 't because the food is bad, we just don 't want to support businesses owned by such rude and unreasonable people.
