Big Mussel - Newcastle upon Tyne

I discovered this charming little seafood restaurant during the day and decided to come back for a reservation in the evening at around 7 o'clock. Just like others have mentioned, it was a delightful experience.

The restaurant received a perfect 5/5 rating from the Food Standard Agency. The setting is simple and basic on the inside, but it is very appropriate. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was an automatic 10% service charge.

I have a hard time believing this, but seafood restaurants are actually few and far between in Newcastle! The Big Clam came highly recommended to me and it did not disappoint.

Been here for a couple of dinners. I'm not a big seafood fan but I still enjoyed the mussels. The steak is awesome! I really enjoyed the live music on during the evening and the staff are all friendly. Only downside is the service bill automatically added not a fan!

I’ll be up front with you from the start here; sea food is certainly not my friend. This is what I learned when I ate a Big Mussel. When I got home after eating out here, I was being physically sick. STOP, KEEP READING!!! Let me just say that I’m NOT saying that you shouldn’t eat here because their food is off or anything, this was just my own reaction to sea food. If you like sea food then I’m sure you’ll absolutely love this place. My friends who were there with me that night had exactly what I had and they loved every last bit of it.
