Sheet Anchor - NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME

We waited for 2 hours before receiving our main course. When the food finally arrived, 3 orders were incorrect, and my full rack of ribs was cold. After sending it back, the ribs returned hot, but they were honestly not worth the price. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely decor, friendly staff, delicious food and a great choice of drinks. Only downside is not enough parking for the size of the restaurant. Been twice since discovering this place and both times got very lucky as people were leaving so we could park.

Our waiter (Jordan I think his name was) was really pleasant which encouraged me to keep the service charge on which I usually don't agree with. The ambience was superb and the wait times between courses could not have been better. The food presentation was on point as well as the quality as well as there being plenty to choose from. Not much at all to grumble about, so thank you.

The food at this restaurant was good, but unfortunately, the experience was tainted by the rude and inexperienced behavior of the manager. We had a pleasant meal that was cooked beautifully, thanks to our attentive waiter. However, when we asked for a simple burger and chips from the kids' menu without any allergens, we were met with confusion and ultimately received a disappointing and overpriced dish. The manager's response to our concerns was passive-aggressive and unhelpful, telling us to "read the menu next time" even though we hadn't had menus in front of us at the time of ordering. It would be beneficial for the manager to receive some training on customer service and communication.

Compared to a previous experience was disappointing to say the least. Having had the butchers block sharing platter before the menu was changed a while ago, me and my wife excitedly ordered the most similar item from the new menu ‘meat sweats’. Our last experience was amazing, we felt the portion size and quality of the meat on offer was incredible and a fair price for the platter and this is what prompted us to return to the restaurant this time bringing some friends with us. The new meat sweats platter does not live up to its name at all, the portion size seems to have halved compared to the butchers block, we had to ask if there was any brisket even on the platter, we had two pieces each hidden under some steak. The ribs were half the size and the sausages have changed and are much poorer quality. We upgraded our fries to the loaded fries, they were supposed to be topped with pulled pork, there was hardly any pulled pork on the fries at all just lots of the crackling and waffle, had better loaded fries at Wetherspoons. Our friends were disappointed too, they ordered individual plates and went home hungry, they even cooked food when they got home! It’s safe to say I won’t be making a return to the blockhouse anytime soon, I will say on a positive note that the staff did provide a good level of service and were friendly.
