Shaw's - NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME

I went to shaw's for the first time in 6/7 years since i moved to Scotland, came down to visit family and i remembered how good shaws was so had to try it again. It's still as amazing as it was back then. The chips were hot, loads of salt and vinegar and didn't wait more than 2/3 minutes. Best chippy ive ever had.

Visited at lunch time today found it well organised re Covid. Ordered cod and chips...wow! The fish was long and thick...the batter crispy and tasty. As usual in the chippies in Staffordshire there were too many chips! Better than not enough : Fish cooked to order so hot and fresh....worth waiting for. The ladies were friendly and I would definitely recommend a visit. Lots of people were having takeaways and sat in the sunshine outside. The dining area is basic but clean. The only drawback is, if it was raining, the loo is in the yard!!

I decided to treat a friend to lunch at Shaw's. I remember it as one of the best chippy in the area.We were very disappointed in both the service and the food. My friends fish was dark brown, the batter was thick and mushy inside. The chips were so hard we were worried about breaking our teeth. The restaurant bit was very full but we managed to get a table at the very back. We waited for our drinks and in the end we had to go to the kitchen and ask for them as the woman there didnt know we had ordered drinks. A member of staff moved a wheelchair into a recessed area moaning that it was in her way. It really wasnt and the customer had done his best to put it in the right place.We didnt feel we had either good food or good service.

Fast service and delicious food. You can't go wrong with anything you choose. This restaurant is the best fish and chip shop in Staffordshire.

Visited with family, eat in the attached cafe. We all had fish ahd chips, all delicious and amazing, its one of the best chip shops around, good service, no complaints
