Contribuiți la feedbackOur small group visited this restaurant often because we have always experienced an excellent service and reliable good food served. but we haven't been there for a few years since our last disappointing visit. on Friday we arrived a little early and stayed in the bar area for approx. 20 minutes, while the restaurant was vacuumed and table arranged and set. so sad to see that the restaurant look tired and old, no tablecloths, beats on all cutlery (my knife had eaten on it and when I asked to replace it, the waitress was quite huffy and dissatisfied by me), no coasters for glasses that plucked, we had to ask for cocktail serviettes. our waiter was polite, but clearly inexperienced. when he took our orders, he didn't know what the fish of the day was, and we were then when we felt that we had a better experience in the local pub. the quality of eating was bad, everything was either cold or hardly warm, and the duck was dry. the desert was the greatest disappointment....tarte tatin is a favorite, but this deconstructed interpretation of the classic desert was a total catastrophe. a touch of what tasted and looked like tinted apples that were crushed on a crumb does not come close to what we expected. the service was almost sufficient, but not even close to the excellent standards that this restaurant had provided under the view of phillip carnell. his eye on detail and appealing wise made every visit a special occasion. we will not return.
Amazing view of the beach and eating is ideal for the price. only such a shame that the staff has no interest in meeting the experience on the same level.
First dinner from the lock. in the hotel restaurant and jonahs far exceeded our expectations. excellent service, delicious food and many gluten-free options. that is always a winner.
In the course of the years we have almost eaten several times, in which special occasions and eating was always classic and beautiful cooked, and the service excellent. we went to lunch, we waited for drinks, they brought the wrong wee, the wrong glass for. the champagne and no glass for the beer. the oysters had not arrived in time for lunch from sydney, the lachs was really overcooked and dry and came with a piece of broccolini and 2 kartoffel chips 38), the (overlaid-to-be medium too rare) bark was far overcooked, hard to cut and very few sweet 38) and the sauces for both were tasteless. we didn't risk staying for dessert or coffee. it was as disappointing as it is spectacular. I don't care that the restaurant is dated and worn and could do with the renovation that makes it look good. we will only be back when some changes are made.
We have been regular patrons of Jonahs. But after our last experience I doubt we’ll go back. Ordered a seafood stack, for $129 we would have expected something a lot better. Frozen thawed out peeled prawns that looked like they came from Cole’s. Tasteless...as well. Just thrown into a bowl. Balmain bugs were small, no flavour. No smoked salmon that was listed on the menu. Oysters, scallops and fish nice, but small portions. We have previously had their seafood stack and it has been exceptional. But the quality is awful now. We had friends with us who were also disappointed with theirs as well. Embarrassing for us because we recommended jonahs and the seafood stack. Wait staff were nice, but something just didn’t seem right. Not the fantastic experience that Jonahs used to be. Pubs have better meals.
