Valle D'oro - Newbury

Everyone has that one restaurant. For some, "the" restaurant might evoke a guilty pleasure, a cherished memory, or simply a deep-seated love that’s hard to articulate. For me, Valle D’Oro in Newbury is the place I always turn to when I crave something special. At times, it feels indulgent, overflowing with cheesy dishes that make it hard to resist. Yet, other days, it’s just pure comfort, and I can't help but adore it. Why do I love it? It's difficult to pinpoint exactly, as the various elements of the experience come together to create an unforgettable evening that always leaves me feeling satisfied.

Go hungry—seriously, so hungry that you might just crawl through the door on your knees! The portion sizes here are not just generous; they're enormous. I started with the cured meats, followed by spaghetti and meatballs (which were absolutely divine in a spicy tomato sauce), and I finished with a massive wedge of strawberry cake. The meats were fresh and flavorful, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the meatballs practically fell apart on my fork. The cheesecake was pure indulgence. I didn’t experience any of the garlic hangover that some Italian restaurants can leave you with. Be sure to arrive with an appetite and make a reservation well in advance, as they get quite busy. You’ll enjoy the fantastic, authentic food and excellent service from the incredibly friendly Italian staff.

I have dined here a few times, and it has never disappointed. It's a beautiful family-run restaurant where the staff are warm and inviting. The menu is definitely a treat for meat and fish lovers, but there are also some vegetarian options available. The food is excellent, and the portion sizes are more than generous—you certainly won't leave feeling hungry! They also have a fantastic selection of wine. Overall, it's a wonderful and well-rounded culinary experience. I will definitely keep coming back!

Have been going to this little gem of a place for many years…. Amazing food and service second to none. I cannot praise this wonderful restaurant enough. Tonight I had the Veal with Asparagus and Tia Maria and Peppercorn Sauce It was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed. A lovely family run restaurant which makes you feel special every time.
