Estrela Ponderosa Bar Restaurant

The waiters deserve a damn medal for as hard as they work. Waited on people hand and foot at a party I was at. Abundance of food. So much food. Great atmosphere. The owner was in the party kept checking on everything all hands on. If you wanna have a party here I would recommend the place. Just hate that it's in Newark.felt like I was going to get jumped walking to my car.

The food here is really good and the price is very good too. However the service was quite slow and the staff messed up my order. I wish the server had been more attentive. Besides that little mishap the service was pretty good.

Waiter instructed me to take from the leftovers of a party for dessert as a nice gesture, but then charged 5 dollars for it. Leftovers on a small plate for 5 dollars when he indicated it would be free. Absolutely disrespectful, a shame because the food was good. Edit: Only gave one shrimp for each order of an entree. 18 dollars each. Unacceptable

It's not Estrela da Ponderosa anymore. Now it's Barretos!!! I was there for a birthday party in the second floor. The only time we came downstairs to the bar to have a drink it took the bartender 5 minutes to understand what we wanted.... mind me we just wanted 3 shots : vodka , Jack Daniel's and sambuca. Nothing fancy.... Not to mention that they had 6 people working behind the bar and we had to call them for attention. They have live music on the weekends though.... mostly Brazilian I believe. Anyway take a look and see for yourselves.

I have been going to this restaurant for 34 years, and the food is simply outstanding—fresh and delicious. The service is exceptional every time I visit! If you're ever in Newark for any reason, you must check this place out. The owner has been dedicated to this restaurant for decades. This is truly authentic Portuguese rustic and homemade food that warms the soul!
