Contribuiți la feedbackWe enjoyed our Saturday brunch as part of our final day at the Lotte and NYC. I read the reviews and found that they were pretty spot on food was good (not great) and portions were eh, so so. Luckily the service was fantastic as we really enjoyed our server who was very personable and sweet. Glad we did this but will save our brunch experience next time for another location.
I am not one to complain about price/value. However, my daughter and I were offered a choice of “juice” when we sat down for breakfast. We both chose orange juice(my daughter only accepted to be polite). I received my bill I was charged $18 for two glasses of juice, which could not have been more than 5-6ounces! Also,, my daughter finished her breakfast when mine finally arrived. Not sure if this was a kitchen or server problem. The staff was friendly and I did leave an additional tip(15% included). I don't penalize waitstaff for problems beyond their control. I always stay in this hotel when visiting NYC, but this was my 1st and probably last experience at the restaurant!
Seated at the famed Villard The Gold Room, my daughter and I expected to be treated with only the most delicious breakfast and the most impeccable service. However, runny eggs, soupy shakshouka (if it can even be qualified as such with a singular egg, for $37 dollars at that) and sour $15 dollar berries were not what we were anticipating. After choking down my liquididated omelet, there was nothing I desired more than the reprieve of water. However, after ten minutes of waiting, this luxury was still not granted to me. Glancing around, the restaurant was fairly empty, and my prospective saviors (or as you might call them, waiters) seemed to be milling around. While I dehydrated to death! Luckily, we got our sour berries removed from the bill, but that charge was instantly replaced by a 9 dollar orange juice and, reader, I kid you not, 9 dollar bottled water. No. Ice. The only saving grace was the beautiful setting, which would have been much improved by a full glass of water and shakshouka that looked more like an egg dish than stew. Woe! Reader, do not waste your hard earned cash here. Do as we say, not as we do.
Fancy from the outside but didn't live up to expectations. Host staff was essentially not showing up for 5-10 minutes only to say they can't seat my party as they had to close half of the restaurant due to staff shortage. Wait time ended up being more than 30 minutes; by that time the kitchen was closing and staff was rushing to get our table done and out of the restaurant again. Food was mediocre at very elevated prices. Coffee cup was chipped and table was not very clean.
Great decor, but the food and service are a let down. The service was among the most indifferent, uncoordinated and ineffective we have had in a long time. They got one order out of 4 wrong, and argued when this was pointed out. There were inordinate delays between the servers (there are multiple servers serving a pool of tables, which is a problem).
