The Uptown - New York

Great place for a larger party. The staff was very attentive and accommodating

Service was horrible. Food was average and prices were different than advertised online. Probably won't be returning.

We have lived in the neighborhood for many years but never found a good weekend brunch restaurant. It was either coffee-shop fare, not very good pub fare, or expensive fare. This place is perfect! The brunch price is very reasonable, but the biggest surprise is the food. Although it is more of a pub-type restaurant, the quality of the food is way above what one would expect from a pub/sports bar. We will definitely go back!!

We arrived when the restaurant opened but clearly before everyone was in place. We were seated at high tables which had no lighting for reading the menus so we moved to another area. Music and voices were loud, food and brunch prices were good. The coffee and in particular the decaf coffee was terrible. Servers were not attentive as most were chatting together loudly near the bar. We left without getting the birthday candle I requested by phone, the night before. We won't return.

Opentable should remove Uptown from their service. I made a reservation on opentable.com by visiting Uptown 's website, and received a confirmation email. However, upon arrival (Sunday 11/9 at noon), the hostess claimed that there was no such reservation. She was rude and dismissive. After much back and forth and after seeing the email, she finally said, Well you should always call also since the online reservations often don 't come through. If Uptown is not receiving Opentable reservations, and then are rude when customers arrive and say they have an Opentable reservation, it reflects poorly on Opentable. The food and servers are great, but the hostess on this particular day was quite rude. First time there and will not be returning.
