In the last minute we decided to go to the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in NYC so we threw on our green pearls on the train and led to the city. This year the Paddy's Day fell on a Saturday, 3/17/18 and it was a beautiful sunny day, so the parade had a greater than usual turn. 5th Avenue was so crowded that we stayed at the parade for a few minutes, then decided to find an Irish pub nearby where we could have some traditional Irish farewell for lunch. I entered Irish pubs with me and guess what happened? An Irish pub called The Irish Pub. So we went 2 city streets from 5 to 7 Avenue and found The Irish Pub. Upon entering we discovered that it was packed! I asked the hostess how long it would be for a table and she said 2 hours. We decided to put our name on a table. We were able to squeeze our way to the bar and order a few drinks, and finally we were lucky to get a bar stool for Lahna while waiting for our table. At first I drank green beer than after 2 switchovers to Bud Light in a green bottle can. Lahna drank her tito and pineapple. Even though the bar area was scratched, we still enjoyed it. About 45 minutes later the hostess told us our table was ready. We were shocked that a table opened so fast! The dining room side was also packed, but at least we all sat at tables. When our waitress came by, we told her we were sitting there for a while and she was completely fine with that. Over the next few hours we drank and have a great time. We ordered here and there some shots, made friends with a few from Scotland, and casually ordered various items on the way. We had wings I didn't get a picture of when we ordered our ducks. Lahna had a Corned Beef sandwich on rye that they really enjoyed. I had the traditional beef and cabbage plate. I had beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day my whole life. I've done it for years. No matter what, it always tastes the same. Cooked meat, potatoes, cabbage, carrots and some spices. Add a little mustard on the side, and you have your traditional Irish feast. But that plate threw me away. It had a Bushmill 's Irish whiskey mustard cream sauce that was from this world! It was so good that I ordered a page of it. The waitress brought out a soup cup of this sauce and I threw half of it on my plate and Lahna used the other half to dip her frits. It was so good! After spending a good 5-6 hours there, eating and drinking it and chatting with all the other drunks who were there that day, we decided to call it a day. We took it back to Penn and chopped back to Massapequa on the train to Eastbound. No matter where we go or what we do, we always have a great time when we are together, but this adventure in NYC on Saint Patrick's Day for the parade and after the party at the Irish Pub was really an unforgettable experience!
Great place to enjoy a few drinks. Enough tv is so you don't miss sports. Enough the choice of beer for everyone. Goodness to be in USA! Defiantly recommend the Irish pub either for a lite bite or just forward drinking session.
