More chairs and low tables needed in the room used to await a table in the Rainbow Room itself, although the view is spectacular.
We had guests travel in from other states to have the holiday brunch. We walked into the main room and there wasn’t ONE holiday decoration. Not a tree. No lights. Nothing festive. What a let down. Charge people almost $200 each (including mandatory tip) and have NOTHING cheery, Christmas inspiring or uplifting. I asked why the lack of any decorations and I was told there was a wedding the night before so they couldn’t decorate the room. In previous brunches, they’ve had live musicians a feature that made the experience special. For the holiday brunch no musicians and some canned music. They did have a Santa Claus. Shame on the Rainbow Room for cheaping out and not making a Christmas (very expensive) brunch feel special.
I try to go every year and always love it but I miss the jazz band! Please bring back the band!
To be honest, we arrived and the when the hostess indicated that our table was literally at the entrance, when i had made a point of adding in the reservation comments fairly specific request. That table was declined by us and we then waited for about 20 min until someone from the Upper mgmt stepped in and personally ended up seating us. We love the room but my initial comment was , no omelet station? When i asked someone asked if I wanted one, when I indicated I did, when it finally came out it wasn't made with eggs, but some sort of eggbeater mix....We've been to the Rainbow Room a couple of times prior as well as my wife worked the Lunch crowd in the RR in the late 70's/80's. We knew what we thought we were walking into, maybe the better days have passed, not sure if I need to do this again.
