Contribuiți la feedbackSel et Poivre is a throwback to a more civilized age in NYC dining. Lovely room, attentive service, a reasonably priced wine list, and French classics prepared correctly. If you are wondering where the great bistros of yesteryear went, look no further. This is the real deal. Highly recommended for snails, duck a la orange, skate, trout Amandine, steak frites, and the various daily specials.
This doesn't get five stars only because the tables are uncomfortably close together. This old-timer with a classic French menu and reasonable prices is a rare find these days.
Delightful neighborhood French bistro, with competent cooking and very friendly service in a charming quiet room. We enjoyed the calves liver, and the tarte tatin was particularly delicious (but it seems that several other reviewers don't really understand what tart-tatin is).
Always love dining at Set el Poivre one of the cities most authentic French restaurants. Delicious mesclun salad, tasty trout and mashed potatoes, and perfect profiteroles. Excellent service and reasonable prices. I look forward to returning.
Lovely setting. Nice white tablecloths easy listening music. Good menu. Good staff. However chicken paillard salad hmmm 2 chickpeas? 1/2 walnut? Really? Mostly lettuce and chicken dry and tasteless. Sorry can do better!
