NIce little spot in Chelsea. Food was very good for all , service was good , they accommodated a last minute extra 2 spots at our table for 4 without much fanfare, the burger was enjoyed by all 3 at the table who ordered it. The bread pudding was the highlight , very light and airey a completely unexpected treat. Drinks were notably interesting and fun if that is your thing.
Located in one of the better parts of NYC, I enjoyed my walk to this small, neighborhood dinner spot/bar, with a relatively authentic and hip vibe. Service was good and the menu, while somewhat limited, offered good choices (our group of 4 shared 3 small plates, and enjoyed separate entrees octopus and hanger steak were very enjoyable, as was my cocktail: a Spanish version of an Old Fashioned .
Ive been coming to salinas ever since i move to new york. its my absolute go to for any occasion. the bartender, Olger, is always so friendly and makes our experience 10/10. the food is always on point, anything i have tried has been answered incredible. the drinks are to die for and the ambiance is just right. its a must visit while in the city. small space, speakeasy vibe. youd never even know was there but such an incredible experience
Service is very poor here. everything is super rushed. they hurry you at every step, so that they can get you out and the next group in. food is decent, but nothing memorable. waiters are not nice or courteous. but the main problem is the owner, who acts like he is doing you a favor. rude and abrupt with customers. doesnt know how to listen or be welcoming. disinterested and dismissive. place is waay overrated. definitely NOT worth $150/person that we paid!
We’re on our first post pandemic visit to NYC and so much has changed since our last visit especially restaurants. We started our week with an old favorite only to find it overdone and overpriced. So, we switched up strategies and started seeking out “neighborhood gems” which get rated by the locals. This strategy led to a series of lovely meals with good service and great value for the price. However, we were still missing that exceptional experience, until we traipsed into Salinas NYC. They found our reservation and seated us immediately. The decor and background music were inviting. The service was thoughtful but not intrusive. But the star of this show was the delicious food. As vegetarians, we often find too much meat, with vegetables relegated to side dishes but not here. A delicious salad of arugula and vegetables, lightly dressed. A roasted eggplant tapas. And, last but far from least, we we served ALGAS GALLEGAS AL MOLE VASCO, a baked dish of rice, veggies, and cheese. With a nod to Tolkien, we call these exceptional meals “mighty dishes” and this one was mighty dish indeed. If you find yourself in NYC and tapas is on your mind then do yourself a big favor at make your way down 9th to Salinas NYC!
