Raku Soho - New York

Our experience at this restaurant was disappointing. We placed an order through Doordash and were excited to try the Mapo Tofu Udon, but unfortunately, it did not arrive. Instead, we received one order of Wagyu Beef Udon without any communication. While the dish was okay, it was not what we had been looking forward to and we had to share it between the two of us. Despite the Mapo Tofu Udon being crossed off our receipt, we were still charged for both dishes. We attempted to contact the restaurant, but no one answered the phone and their voicemail was full. Luckily, Doordash refunded us for the missing items. Although the restaurant did not handle the situation well, we did enjoy the Organic Iced Green Tea.

The Wagyu Don is a delightful surprise. While rare is typically preferred for beef, especially Wagyu beef, this well-cooked beef still maintains a silky and tender texture, preserving its flavorful marinade. The addition of egg, rice, and pickled daikon complement the exceptional beef bowl. And don't forget to save any leftover Raku rice, as it is also cooked to perfection.

I highly recommend the Sansai udon noodles at this restaurant. The food is consistently excellent, always achieving perfect results.

This place is THE place for udon in the city. A pretty nice place to dine alone, it’s relatively easy to get a table if you are by yourself. The niku udon and a poached egg is my absolute favorite. I’ve been here multiple times and it still amazes how good it is every time I’m here! The noodles are chewy but soft, the broth is the perfect taste, and the meats in the soup are great. I recommend the niku. Their soba pudding is also delicious!
