Murray's Cheese Bar - New York

I had a great experience having lunch at this restaurant. The portions are generous, and while the menu isn't extensive, there are plenty of excellent vegetarian options available. We ordered the caprese sandwich (which is enough for two), their cheese melt, and a small mac and cheese. We also tried the thick and hearty tomato soup, along with several cheeses, and the pistachio spread, which is like Nutella but with pistachios—absolutely delicious! The mac and cheese was creamy and cooked al dente; it was one of the best I've ever had. On another occasion, I enjoyed a happy hour cocktail that was quite good as well. However, I did notice that they seemed to be understaffed, with just one waiter covering the entire floor, which resulted in longer wait times and less attentive service. Overall, the food was quite good (albeit a bit heavy on the carbs), the staff was friendly, and the cheese selection was excellent.

Murray's Cheese Bar in Long Island City opened at the end of 2020, just as we were coming out of Pandemic 1.0. The restaurant has a cozy layout that allows for gourmet cheese shopping, enjoying drinks at the bar, and dining both indoors and outdoors. The team is fantastic and incredibly friendly, having navigated through the challenges of the pandemic and its ever-changing circumstances. We're looking forward to a full reopening post-Omicron! For now, we'll continue to enjoy takeout.

Absolutely delicious! We arrived around noon with a reservation, but during our time there on a Thursday lunch, it didn't get overly busy or loud. We tried the prosciutto-wrapped figs. The other two in my party weren't fans. One person said it was too salty. I don't like blue cheese normally, but I loved it! The plate was drizzled with balsamic, and had a great balance of textures and flavours. I guess I'll eat it all myself next time! We also grabbed a truffle mac andcheese to split between us, and it was the real winner. Pasta was al dente, super creamy with the crunchy crumb topping, and the truffle was delicious. I will have to come back for this on my next trip. The classic grilled cheese was goodbut scraped the roof of my mouth, it was so crunchy. I added bacon. It was worth the pain, and I'd order it again! Being on vacation, it was hard to get vegetables in, so I opted for salad when soup might have saved my mouth. The salad isincredibly generous and refreshing. I'd do this whole same meal again, honestly. Service was prompt, and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. I hope I'll be able to come back soon!

I had a wonderful experience at Murray's today. The atmosphere during lunch on Tuesday was calm, and the service was prompt. We ordered the large Mac for two and a tomato soup. Both dishes exceeded our expectations, and we finished every last bit. The mac was perfectly al dente, topped with nicely toasted breadcrumbs, and the cheese blend was delightfully stringy and creamy without being overpowering. I loved it, and I will definitely be coming back regularly!

I was so excited when Murray's announced they'd be opening up a wine and cheese bar in LIC. But then the pandemic happened and opening was delayed and like everyone else I stayed home more.. And then we moved to LA.. On a recent trip back to NY, we were staying at a hotel in LIC so I got to pop in here for a drink. Beautiful space! Excellent wine menu. And of course, the cheese-centric menu. Just wish I got to enjoy it more often before leaving NY.
