Koi New York

Trendy is the vibe and intent, it seems, more than any focus on truly differentiated sushi, but it was still excellent. Can be noisy inside. Funky underground bar downstairs.

Excellent food, customer service, and atmosphere. Koi never misses. Also shoutout to Diamond in particular—she's the sweetest!

Was nice but not outstanding. Low rating on atmosphere given as ambient sound level is so high it is hard to have a normal conversation.

I'm skeptical of the big midtown power lunch spots. But Koi is very solid. In particular the crispy rice (with any of the offered fish) is simply the best. Koi is ideally enjoyed when expensed, but worth it even on your own dime, a rarity for the neighborhood.
