Barrow Street Ale House - New York

This has always been one of my favorite spots. I was pleased to find that, after 10 years, not much has altered. The bar remains well-kept, and the nostalgic charm from the early 2000s is still present. The only notable change I noticed is that the pool table area in the basement has been converted into a stage. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant place to spend a Saturday afternoon, chatting with the friendly bartender.

On July 16, 2023, a tall man with tattoos asked for our IDs in a rude manner and had a poor attitude. His aggressive tone was off-putting, and I can see why the place was nearly empty and lacking customers. I do not recommend this restaurant due to its terrible customer service. Food rating: 1/5.

I don't want to leave a negative review for Café Bohemia, as I am a jazz fan and am saddened to see it closing permanently. However, since this bar has the same doorman and owner, I feel compelled to share my experience for future customers. If you check their reviews, you'll notice a trend: a large number of complaints about the doorman. It's baffling that they continue to employ someone like that when so many patrons have had similar issues.

The good is that the beer is rather inexpensive and the people that work here are friendly. The OK is that the way the interior is situated is that even on a sunny day the interior is too dark. I understand setting a mood, but IMHO this one is much too dim.

Great place if you like good, drinks, and a jukebox. Who doesn't! Their burger is very put together very well, as is the ambiance.
