Terrific Italian sandwiches. If you go early enough, they have multiple bread options, each of which is good in its own right, but some of which are more conducive to certain sandwiches. The menu is long (a little intimidatingly so), but they will alsomake one from any combination of their ingredients. In the summer, there are a couple small tables out front; in the winter,it?ll have to be to-go. Either way, it?s worth going.
Outstanding sandwiches! Have been here for over 40 years and when you try one of their sandwiches, you will know why. A few seats inside and there are two parks nearby...one a few feet away on Sullivan and the other around the corner on 6th Ave. Great staff. Truly the best in NYC by far.
I lived on Sullivan Street in the late 1990’s when Alidoro was known as Melampo. The sandwich’s were legendary then and they remain equally as good today. Every sandwich is made to order with fresh cut ingredients. The focaccia and semolina breads are so fresh and delicious along with sun dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and a great selection of cured Italian meats sliced to order. Alidoro can’t be beat in my opinion and that’s after 20 consistent years of enjoying these amazing sandwiches!
Alidoro is a delicious neighborhood joint that does sandwiches really well. I had the Pinocchio which was amazing. Well worth the trip! They have several locations around the city.
