Big Star Sandwich Co. - New Westminster

Yummmm. Who doesn't like a great sandwich place? Rap on the stereo, fail videos on the tv and just enough seating for around 2o people. Hubby is loving the ultimate bloopers reel and I'm loving the spicy ham sandwich. Loss of star as Hubby's sandwich was missing bacon. That's a major failure in his eyes!

Been wanting to 'revisit ' Big Star ever since they moved to this location. It 's always so busy on Columbia whenever I pass by so I don 't bother. But on Tuesday night, I just happen to be driving by around 7pm and there were plenty of parking and store was open until 8pm (despite what their website states . The guys who greeted me were ultra friendly and the place was immaculately clean. After reading the entire menu board, I decided to get the #7 with onions and hickory sticks (a must! to go. The prices are comparable to other places that serve premium sandwiches that have quality ingredients so I 'm not mad at the higher price. When I got home, I just heated the sandwich for 20 seconds in the microwave and voila...supreme experience! The bread was fresh and didn 't fall apart despite the multitude of goodness inside. The roast beef was very tasty and moist from the juices it was soaked in. The capocollo added a little spicy sassiness, and the mayo and provolone gave it a bit of creaminess. And finally, the hickory sticks (which stayed crisp despite the drive home and the nuke and the (still crisp lettuce gave it the contrasting texture. Yup ... feel like getting another samich.

My first thought biting into the sandwhich was where is the meat? I expect a pulled meat sandwiches to have a decent amount of meat. Here, not so much. Don 't get me wrong, they do taste good but the sandwiches are mostly veggie filler. I 'd say on par with Quiznos but I think I 'd go to Quiznos first.

Recently did an online order and had a terrible experience. My order was 40 minutes late after giving them a pre-order of 1.5 hours before my delivery time. My delivery time should have been the latest 12:30pm and I received it at 1:10pm. When I called the store to find out the status just after 12:30pm, I was not given any apology or explanation but was told I could cancel my order if I did not want to wait. The lady I spoke to gave me a rough idea but then said she can't guarantee and she can just cancel my order. What kind of service is that? Honestly, how am I supposed to determine that if I don't actually know how much longer it would be. I feel like I should have been notified beforehand if they were running behind and then I could have made my decision. Then to top it off, when I finally received my order, the modifications I specified were not done. Terrible customer service and experience. Not sure I would order from there again.

I absolutely adore the sandwiches here. They offer a wide selection to match any craving. The only downside for me is the cost; it’s definitely not the most budget-friendly sandwich spot around.
