The best option is to opt for the set group pricing, which offers a variety of dishes. The spring rolls and vegan chicken tenders are particularly tasty, while other menu items such as mushrooms, tofu, bok choy, and vegetables in sauce are more typical Chinese fare in flavor.
My friend who is Cantonese called this restaurant today. She told me that the person on the phone mentioned that some dishes contain egg. The photos attached are from my review in 2015. The prices have increased since then. The food is tasty and enjoyable. I would give this place a rating of 5 if all the food were vegan. The temple complex is extensive and impressive. This review has been updated from my previous one in 2015.
After a pleasant hike in Pat Sin Leng country park, I found myself in Fanling around lunchtime. Fung Ying Seen Koon Restaurant is conveniently situated in a modern Buddhist temple next to the MTR station. From exit B, walk across the bridge, through the small pedestrian tunnel on the left, and you'll reach the temple entrance within a 2 minute walk. Follow the signs to the vegetarian canteen upstairs, where you'll find a large room with round tables, a bit chaotic and noisy with many diners. The menu mostly consists of traditional mushroom and tofu dishes. Despite the lack of variety, it was a satisfying stop after a long trek. I ordered some spring rolls (decent) and vegetable noodles (disappointing due to excessive mushroom and tofu with minimal veggies). The portion sizes were good and the prices reasonable (less than HKD100 for both dishes). Overall, it's a decent spot worth checking out if you're in the area, although the lengthy 1-hour MTR journey from Central may deter some visitors.

To reach the restaurant, take the bridge at exit B, then the small pedestrian tunnel on the left side, and it's just a 2-minute walk to the temple entrance. Climb the stairs, turn left, and follow the signs to the vegetarian canteen. The dining area is spacious with round tables, a bit crowded and noisy, but with a traditional menu featuring mostly mushroom and tofu dishes. I enjoyed my spring rolls (decent) and sweet and sour dish (lacking in green vegetables). The portion size was adequate, and the prices were reasonable (less than HKD100 for both dishes). Overall, it's a decent option for a meal after a long day of hiking, but it may not be worth the hour-long MTR trip from Central for some diners.
