Contribuiți la feedbackVery friendly service from their waitstaff Sandro he definitely made our visit memorable. He was relatable and took interest in our table and our grandmother on her birthday.<br/ <br/ The food too was nice across the table. Only comment is they could look into some vegetarian options.
I came here with my mates for breakfast. It was one of the best cafes I've ever been in NZ. My chia seed pudding was so smooth and delicious. The coffees are beautiful and awakens your lazy morning soul. Coming from Auckland, I really wish there was a Monica's Eatery here too. Thanks for the warm start of our travel.
Great brunch spot, especially for pre art gallery visit, with s nice range of menu items from your classic eggs several ways through to breakfast salads and pea and ricotta fritters with pancetta (These were amazing) . The only down side was that the service was a little on the slow end of things especially as they didn't seem that busy. Not enough of a problemTo stop me going back however!
Beautiful resturant attached to LenLye in New Plymouth.Ambience, decor and service great We had dessert on a late Saturday night and it was delicious. Defs recommend tiramisu :
As a group of friends doing a road trip to New Plymouth, we chanced upon Monica 's after the place we originally intended to go to was closed for New Years. Monica 's is situated next to the Len Lye Centre, and was quite full when we arrived (about 11am). It was fitted out nicely with copper/pastel tones and had a relaxed atmosphere (with a slight 'hipster ' vibe). <br/ <br/ The waiter was friendly and took our coffee orders, and we decided to get a variety of small plates and mains to share. Even though it seemed to be busy, we weren 't kept waiting for a ridiculously long period of time. <br/ <br/ The calamari/baby octopus and the Florentine fried chicken came first. While the batter on the calamari was ever so slightly soggy, the fried chicken was amazing light, crispy, moist and perfectly seasoned. Our only qualm would have been how little there was to go around! The french fries (which came with a beautiful anchovy mayonnaise) and the creamy portobello mushrooms were equally impressive. The beef cheek ragu pappardelle and prawn risotto were very good, but nothing spectacular. <br/ <br/ In addition to our coffees (which were fine), we ordered some 'house made ' sodas (the ginger/lime and pineapple/mint). The ginger and lime soda in particular was refreshing, and perfect for a hot summer 's day. <br/ <br/ All in all, it is not difficult to see why Monica 's is recommended by Tripadvisor as a top eatery in New Plymouth. The price was not unreasonable (brunch plates under $20, pastas under $23), though that would only be from our experiences as Aucklanders. Definitely try it out if you are in the area!
