We visited on a Wednesday afternoon in September, and it was quite busy. The staff were very friendly, and our food arrived quickly. There are no indoor seating options since it's strictly an outdoor eatery. They do have a canopy over some of the tables in case of rain. However, I noticed a lot of mosquitoes around the area. I ordered a crab roll, which was served with a slice of lemon, tartar sauce, and a choice of chips or coleslaw. My partner's steamers and mushrooms were also delicious. It was a lovely place to relax, watch the boats and trains, and enjoy some good seafood.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! It has a beautiful atmosphere and enchanting outdoor seating. They offer a spice bar where you can customize your dish to your liking. The service is both fast and friendly. The only downside is the seagulls, which I like to call "beach chickens." They should implement better protection against them because they flew onto our table and gave me a look like, “What’s in that bowl?” Other than that, it’s an amazing place! Highly recommended!
Definitely a great place to visit when in the area, but it's best to arrive early if you prefer to avoid crowds. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but it's worth it. I went around 4:30 PM on Thursday, which was the perfect time. By 6:30 PM, there was quite a long line, and I can’t imagine how busy it gets on a Friday or a weekend. The menu is extensive, so it’s a good idea to do some research and be prepared when you arrive. I tried the lobster grilled cheese and the speck-wrapped clotted cream, and they were both amazing! I highly recommend this place, and when I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely return to try out more options from the menu.
I had lobster grilled. brot perfectly roasted. a lot of lobsters and evaporates. just a little bit of a bit, but good. Hubby had grilled chix salat. dressing was never offered either at the order or pickup. So he went and asked. niece had lobster bisque. big food when lobster in it. prices about average for seafood. all tables outside a marina. the tracks run next to the location. the location is off the beaten path and the road that could lead to space a little tlc. not sure how parking would be on a busy day. many today, but only about 1/2 dozen tables used. has covered area.
Any time I get back to CT and have the chance, I like to go to Captain Scott's. This year, there was only one chance. It is hard to beat their lobster roll though there are many other good options. Order the CT-style roll, hot, buttered on a toasted JJ Nissan bun. The clam chowder is a nice creamy consistency, but not too thick. While it probably could have used more clams, I will give them a pass as it was their last day before closing for the season. They also have a lobster pot Christmas-tree and while other local versions have gotten more hype, it is very cool to see one in a working harbor. New London Strong.
