I chose asparagus to begin with poached egg, which was delicious, followed by mushroom and truffle pappardelle, which was beautiful, although a little oily. my partner... ham hock terrine then duo von duck. despite the preorder they forget the main course of the organizer of pappardelle. they apologised and said it would cook for another 15 minutes so that they didn't bother and simply had garlic broth. a person enjoyed a dessert of sticky toffee pudding. service was friendly and efficient. we will return happy.
First visit to this pub today and will definitely return! the lunch menu was excellent and it was diffucult to make a choice as it looked so good. went for the spicy pizza delicious! drinks were also very expensive. service was very good and we were not rushed, we had a really relaxing visit. beautifully decorated, the outside room looked good, and the toilets were immaculate.
Amazing food , great service and good value. Definitely recommend and would return . Lovely ambiance. Steak well cooked and seasoned and duck best ever eaten. Thank you
Good evening, I hope all is well, we have just got home from staying over night in the Huntsman. I just want to start off by saying, the hotel room was lovely and very clean and cosy, however, we dined in the restaurant last night...at 7pm, there was only one another couple in there with us so no excuse for bad service. However, as soon as we walked in, I really felt as if we weren’t welcomed, and rushed as if the waiters just didn’t want us to be there, we ordered starters and mains and then the waiter just walked off before I could even ask anything or finish ordering. We waited a while and we were brought over our mains… no starters, like we ordered, which is unheard of seeing as there was only 1 other couple in there, there isn’t really an excuse to forget. A lovely gentleman did come over and apologise on behalf of the waiter, to which the waiter then came over and half heartily apologised, fine. We were too hungry and tired to really say much as we had traveled a long way. I must say I was really disappointed with this as I was so looking forward to our meal. The food was delicious, I couldn’t fault it, but the whole atmosphere around us and the starters being forgotten just ruined it all, which is such a shame as we were there for my partners birthday. To be honest, I would have thought the waiter would have offered something other than a “sorry” which it didn’t really feel like he was. We got over this and left it as ‘these things happen‘ but I still went to bed a little frustrated. Fast forward to the morning, we had breakfast, food was lovely, however I asked the lady if I could have a cappuccino, which I think, is a very normal request and I don’t think I’ve ever been told I can’t have one in a hotel/restaurant. To which the lady responded, “no sorry, we only do this for paying customers after 11am” well I was a paying customer and was totally willing to pay £3 extra for a cappuccino, I think that’s pretty poor and a bit strange for such a simple and easy request. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately I felt let down by our service in the restaurant and I am quite shocked as I wouldn’t have expected this from somewhere like this. These things may sound small and minor, but it did have an effect and didn’t make the experience what we wanted and hoped for. I did want to speak to someone this morning regarding this, but there was not anyone around for check out and we needed to head back, hence my email. I really don’t like to complain, but when paying money, I expect what I pay for.
Disappointing Sunday lunch with the family. Lacks atmosphere, drinks order not right, mains rather underwhelming, and for £16 for a roast I expect my plate to be hot.
