One29 - New Canaan

The first time back in a few months. restaurant has the same name, but seems to be under new property. eating was good, but the menu has been changed and all our favorites like calamari sausage, tacos, various pastas are longer too bad available.

Very good food. the personal is quirky, every time we interacted with him, he entered our conversation. he should've really sit down and join us:

What a catastrophe! no air conditioning, credit card machine not working, waiter actually described veggie wrap as “rad”, a mixed drink order, my iced glass had lipstick on the rim (not mine!, there were flying everywhere, the veggie wrap and burger took about 30 minutes to come (there was only another table of people who eaten the dessgies. I could go on, but it's pointless. no wonder that the place was empty. avoid this place completely!

When I first read the reviews for one29, I was overwhelmed with all negative reviews. since I liked to be adventurous with the food I visit, I decided to try anyway. we visited on a quiet Tuesday evening and the restaurant was not busy, at all we were the only customers there. I am here not to criticize this detail the restaurant, but because it coincides with the next detail, I will mention the service we received was excellent! even if we sit outside (after our choice,) we have checked our server frequently for us and our waters have always been filled. I have noticed that many reviews here criticize the service, but our server and bussers were attentive, friendly and efficient. now a note about eating. the menu itself is very limited, in some ways. the friend I decided to dinate with, does not eat any fish, so their options were limited for entree. she chose two appetizers. I was impressed by the size of the appetizers! I tried some of her portobello mushroom salat and it was delicious. on the other side, the size of the entrees was a bit smaller compared to other restaurants. I ordered the hanger steak and I felt that the part is a bit small (compare to the hangers steaks I had close in other restaurants). that is the only reason why I rated the “value” 3 stars, due to the limited menu and the smaller Entree sizes. otherwise it was delicious. overall I enjoyed my time at one29. we had the makkaron plate for dessert (we have 7 macarons for $10 and that compensates my little escape). do I like one29? yes. would I visit again? during the service was good and I liked the personal, I am an adventurous eater and I like to try different things. I would probably visit again if one29 decided to expand their menu.

Great meals- both the chicken and skirt steak were perfectly prepared. Our server Rebecca was outstanding!
