Zur alten Muhle - Neuenbürg

The reception is located in the bar in the dining room, never saw such a concept on this planet. Sliding door to the bathroom of glass without insulation gives zero private space if you visit as a couple. The loud generator is literally activated on 6 Sunday mornings. Night lights lack, fluorescent tubes right over the eyes are terrible. You get 2x 0.25l water free, which is a shame, as black Forrest has many wells very close. At least a minimum of 0.7l or 2x 0.5l bottles should be offered. Small TV on the desk, no place to use the desk without moving the TV. Ugly electric heating just left in the room, no seasonal change. Breakfast: Tomato unwashed, buffet was never refreshed or refilled. Poor vegan options mostly bread cheese fish and ham. Rate this hotel as a 4star is a scandal! 2 stars maybe, and with a lot of improvement they could max 3 starts, but there is absolutely no way to rate them with 4... Overprice for such quality

Driving along, we were hungry, we ate so well. The trout with hollandaise was splendid! Waite staff was excellent, an overall wonderful experience.

Worth a trip here just for the fish. They also have an excellent breakfast serving fish as well as traditional German breakfast.

The old mill is a very nice place in a blackforrest valley. The little river is running through the bassins with trouts of different sizes along the driveway and passes the restaurant hotel building. The weather was bad when we were there for the weekend so we could not enjoy the nice terrace. We (a group of 9) had aperitives and then a la carte dinner. Everyone picked one of the fish dishes which were all very good and tasted different had diffent sauces and were very fresh. The prices are absolutely ok for the dishes. The breakfast the next day was blackforrest like rich with different breads, meats and marmelades. After we checked out sunday we went to the other part of the fish breeding accross the (main) street to watch a bit more of the fish farm and took the oportunity to buy absolutely fantastic fish burgers (in vacuum).

We went to the restaurant on god Friday in the evening. Excellent food, vine and service. We had the mixed starter Alte Mühle und the fish plate Alte Mühle very nice. The restaurant's main rooms look execellent. Unfortunately we were placed in a roam in the lower ground floor which was ok. Just by changing the lighting they could make it more cosy. We will come back but will be very determined to be seated in the main restaurant.
