The food itself was mediocre—nothing special, so it shouldn't have been messed up in the first place. They even charged extra for condiments. Another table, the only other customers in the restaurant, also had their order mixed up. The waitress confused their drinks and got their order wrong too. When we left, I chose not to tip due to the lack of professionalism and effort. The waitress took offense and confronted me about the tip as we were leaving, being extremely rude and saying inappropriate things in front of my wife and child. Overall, it was a poor and unprofessional experience, and we definitely won't be returning. I will also advise others to avoid this place. To Ryan, I want to clarify that I did describe our experience honestly. We waited to be seated and had to enlist the help of hotel staff to locate our waitress. She told us to sit at a particular table when she finally seated us, because we requested a window view. Before accusing me of lying, you should have the full details. I won’t be returning to this restaurant again, and I believe reviews help customers share their experiences, which is what I did. I also left you a voicemail to discuss this matter directly, but you were unavailable. I would prefer not to have any further contact regarding this situation.
The pasta and steak were nothing extraordinary and felt overpriced for their quality. I found a strand of blonde hair in my spaghetti, which was untouched, so I sent it back. However, it appeared to be the same plate when it was returned. The broccolini served with the steak and prawns was cold, and although it was advertised as tiger prawns, they were not. The garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, sourced from Cordon Bleu, were also cold. This might be our first and last visit; we spent $200 for three people and were quite disappointed.
My family and I started with the mussels. They were excellent. I had the ravioli, my husband had the salmon salad. The food was delicious. Our waiter Gabe was very attentive and enjoyable. It was a very comfortable atmosphere and we would definitely go back.Food: 5/5
If you’re not a guest at the hotel, expect not to be seated when you show up. We waited for five minutes by the entrance only to be asked by staff if we were guests at the hotel then being asked if it was “ok to wait for 30 mins” while we stared at a half empty restaurant. I am sure the food is delicious but we couldn’t tell you.Service: 1/5
This was our second breakfast in Nelson, and it was definitely the best one. Although we were staying at a different hotel, we chose to come here for breakfast. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent, with gluten-free options available. The atmosphere is charming and intimate, featuring cozy booths—a lovely place overall.
