The place seemed a little disjointed and I never understood why it would be closed on Mondays, as the competition a few doors down closed Mondays too, I would of seized the opportunity. Anyway for whatever reasons they are no longer in business. Its very sad that someone's dreams of running a little coffee shop were so short lived.
We went to the restaurant for an early lunch on a weekend. When we asked for a meal, we were informed that the kitchen was closed (at 11am!!). We settled for just a coffee and a sweet, but were told the coffee machine was broken and no alternative was offered. The lack of options left us stunned. Despite attempting to return to the restaurant a few times, we have not been able to catch it open. We are still hopeful that it was just initial issues and are willing to give it another try.
For a brand new business when is it ever open? The one time we found it open and dined there, it was understaffed, the meals were okay, the hot bevereges were slow to come out then wrong or luke warm. Customer's were complaining everywhere and one customer seemed to be telling the owner (who was run off his butt) how to go about his business. Confused!
I had a quick catch up with a girlfriend yesterday afternoon. We were greeted by a smiling, friendly waitress who took our orders quickly. We had some slice, a chocolate coconut ball and our drinks - we got it all for about $16. Excellent new cafe - I will be back!
They serve Canadian french toast. Cinnamon, bacon, maple syrup, bacon, french toast, bacon. Who could complain! Add to this some very attentive and friendly wait staff and well prepared coffee, I will be back. Sim had the corn fritters and I tried those as well, could not complain one bit. Finally, the decoration is great and the view is lovely. This has just become our favourite breakfast spot in NL.
