Pirates of the Caribbean! These are my comments on everything I ordered. Irish breakfast tea lovely although could have been hotter. Tea is served piping hot traditionally. Quiche Lorraine Pastry was good. Unfortunately the quiche consisted of mainly diced ham with very little egg/cream/cheese. Not enjoyable. Scone with jam and cream. Jam and cream were fine although it would have been nicer if jam had been homemade and not out of a jar. Both served in plastic containers not little ramekins. The scone was a big let down. It contained hardly any fruit, hard on the outside and it was very crumbly and dry. In all honesty it was really an English Rock Cake and not a Scone. Nice try but this place is not authentic. The plus side was that service was good and the restaurant was clean.
Charming little tea room. I stopped in while on vacation and it didn't disappoint. I shared an afternoon tea with my aunt's and it was a great experience. Our waitress was so helpful and the Brambles delight came out quickly. Each sandwich was delicious and I'm still thinking about the cucumber! The scones one raisin, the other vanilla were not impressive, Soo incredibly dry, crumbled all over. It's a shame since scones are easy to make and don't have to be this way. We shared two separate pots of tea Royal Wedding and English Breakfast and the royal wedding was Soo tasty! We were given milk with the tea and my aunt tried it. I've never had milk with my tea and after my visit, I always will! Brought out the flavor of the tea! I would definitely return for afternoon tea again and I'm already thinking about coming back to try the Shepard's Pie!
The food and the service are consistently excellent. Love to go for lunch and bring home something different for dinner. Never ate a cucumber sandwich before, but the sandwiches are to die for especially the cucumber.
I came here the other day with a friend. I had heard good things about this place so I was anxious to try it. I had some finger sandwiches and I didn't think they were very good. The blueberry scone was excellent. Although I did hear another person order the quiche and they said that was excellent. I probably should have gotten that.If you like tea, and I don't just mean an occasional cup. If you're really into tea, this is the place for you to go. Otherwise, I would say there's too many other restaurants in town that you would enjoy more. Even if you don't eat here, the gift shop had a lot of very interesting gifts that you might not find anywhere else . I won't be returning here to eat, but I may stop back in again for the gift shop.
We love coming here every year while on vacation. We love the atmosphere, food, and teas. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Everything we have ordered we have loved. I only wished they had a location in our home town.
