The menu is extensive, but it would have been helpful to have vegan options clearly marked, as many dishes seem to contain ghee, yogurt, and other non-vegan ingredients. It was disappointing that the Thai red curry couldn't be made vegan, especially since it typically doesn't include milk or eggs. More tofu dishes as a protein substitute would have been a welcome addition.
The restaurant offers a wide selection of vegetarian Indian, Chinese, and Italian dishes, which may be overwhelming for some. Although vegan options are not explicitly labeled, the staff is accommodating and can customize many dishes to be vegan. This makes it a rare find in Nairobi's meat-heavy dining scene. The dishes can vary in flavor and some are heavily seasoned, but customers can request their desired level of spice.
I appreciate that there is a restaurant in Nairobi that offers Indian food without any milk. It was one of my top spots in Nairobi, although I preferred the one located at Diamond Plaza. The service, ambiance, and possibly the taste were better there.
I have been a regular customer at the Westlands and Diamond Plaza Chowpaty locations since I went vegan in 2016. The food at Chowpaty is delicious and hearty, and full of a variety of flavors. Generally the staff and ownership make a good effort to recommend and provide vegan options. There are lots of mushroom options chili mushroom, garlic mushroom. You may just want to ask, especially if you take the Indian cuisine, that they use oil instead of ghee or butter.
Truly great indian food with staff well aware of how to comply with a vegan diet.
