It's a long-established restaurant, but it seems that they were considering closing temporarily due to the impact of the coronavirus, so it's best to visit while you still can. I lined up for about 30 minutes and entered around 2pm, but the person after me was refused entry due to sold out items. There were also some people who lingered, so I recommend lining up around noon as the turnover rate is not very high. The main dish, Ayumeshi, is a bit pricey at 2,200 yen, but it's a rare dish where ayu fish is steamed without salt, so I recommend trying it at least once. It can also be shared between two people, and even for those who are not fond of river fish, I recommend trying a bit as a snack.
Visited the restaurant to eat ayu. Ordered ayu yakitori and ayu rice. The ayu was smaller than usual so I usually order one, but two came out. The salt-grilled ayu has plenty of salt on the back fins and tail, so be careful when eating. Despite being small, the flesh is firm and the meat around the belly is a chunk of umami that can be devoured smoothly from the tail to the head. Additionally, the ayu rice (pictured is for two people) is served in a large pot with dashi and rice cooked together, topped with a generous amount of ayu. It can be eaten as is, or with plenty of condiments for flavor variation, keeping you from getting bored. The scorched rice on the pot is fragrant, and the rice soaked in dashi becomes even more flavorful. Before you know it, the pot will be empty along with a full stomach.
I absolutely wanted to eat salt-grilled Ayu, and luckily there was only one restaurant open like an oasis. Established in the 35th year of the Meiji era, I was very happy at Tanichi. I will definitely visit again slowly next time. I ate from head to tail and it was really delicious. The staff at the restaurant were also very kind and I was grateful.
酷評クチコミもあり少し不安がよぎりましたが、うちの場合 大人2名+ワンコ はラッキーなことにGWの昼真っ只中に待ち時間0でテラス席の隅で涼風の中、とても心地よく過ごせました。暫く長居したかった位です。 基本的には写真のような心遣いのある店主さんのお店だと思っています。次回来たらまた立ち寄るつもり。
とても感じの良いお店、風情もあり店員さんの対応もとても穏やか。鮎飯がめちゃくちゃダシがきいてていて美味しい!わたし的にはマリネとマイタケ天ぷらがおすすめ テラス席もあり、愛犬愛鳥もつれて行けて大満足のお店
