I was also pleased that the sauce was served on the side. The pimento cheese jalapeños were fantastic, the baked beans were good, and the slaw was decent. We loved the dry rub on the ribs; the sauce had a unique flavor that you either love or hate—I guess I loved it because I finished it all! The staff was friendly, and the owner (I think) came out to check on us. We had a nice chat before the place got busy. While the ribs weren’t exactly fall-off-the-bone tender, they were delicious! One small note: the cheese curds were pickled, but being from Louisiana, we can handle it! Overall, a great dining experience!
Raised on BBQ House BBQ. Visit the old location on North Street many on Sunday after the church. Never eat there, Mom would pick up 2lbs chopped beef, beans and potato salad. It's best for Nacogdoches. However, it is not comparable to the BBQ places in Lockhart or Austin area. It does not fall from the bone perfectly smoked brisket. It is well chopped, mixed with sauce and placed on a bun. The beans are great and seasoned with lots of meat. I also love her dirty rice I don't remember when I was a kid. Service is met or mis and it seems that most employees are made of SFA students.
I would say this is the best restaurant in town! The sandwiches and baked potatoes are amazing. You absolutely have to try the Rib Eye Sandwich—it's incredibly tasty and delicious!
Good selection of meats and sides served as sandwiches, plates and poboys. The stuffed potatoes are also quite good. The desserts however are commercially made.
