Friday, March 22, 2024: We came for dinner with our grandson in tow after my doctor's appointment in the building next door. The restaurant was brightly decorated with Easter trappings throughout. As an Air Force veteran, I love their ode to the military as evidenced on their wall. We were seated right away at a booth. We were soon greeted by our exuberant and friendly server Gabriel. We both had the meat loaf dinner with iced teas and our grandson wanted his favorite: chicken strips with French fries and a strawberry milkshake. The meals were delicious comfort food we immensely enjoyed. Our grandson loved his food especially the milkshake! Gabriel was spot on anticipating our needs and was very fun to speak with. Kudos to this young man! Richie's Diner continues to be our go-to for comfort food although prices have risen considerably.
I 've never had a bad experience at Ritchie 's, but unfortunately I 've never had a great experience that would warrant a 5/5. I love the overall 50s American diner aesthetic. Everything from the music playing, to the uniforms, to the booths are all modeled after 1950s style. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. Steaks, Chili Cheese Fries, Burgers, Breakfast, Country food. You cannot go wrong with any of their appetizers either. Mozzarella sticks, nachos, zucchini, etc are all bangers on their menu. They have quite a good selection of desserts as well. They have items such as: Uptown Bread Pudding, Hot Fudge Cookie Monster, and Linda 's Old Fashioned Cobbler etc. The two things keeping Ritchie 's from a 5 star in my book are: The service is very pleasant, but often pretty slow, and often times the type of foods or desserts you want are out of stock. Otherwise, this location is super consistent, and super worth going to if you 're in the area and what an aesthetically pleasing, delicious American styled restaurant.
We used to love Richie's. We went tonight and the food was just OK. Service had gone way down hill, our server never checked if we needed anything or until we were done eating. Most of our drinks were never refilled. Worse part was the $6 fee to pay with a card, which is not listed anywhere in the menu or is there a sign notifying you of this fee before you eat. This is actually illegal in the state of California. We unfortunately will probably not be back in the near future which sucks because we used to go every Friday after dropping the kids off at school. I'm giving 2 stars because my steak, though a little over cooked, was still good
Such a cute little diner, food portions are very large and yummy! I got the croissant breakfast sandwich with country potatoes. Their new peach ice tea is really good. Our server Connie was so sweet.
