Ichiban Japanese - Murfreesboro

Edited to add my review from 3/4/2022: We had another wonderful evening with dear friends! Ichiban has become one of my all-time favorite spots. It feels like a classic – warm and inviting, and incredibly authentic, especially coming from someone who has been to Japan. The staff is both friendly and entertaining, and even though they're short on employees, they maintain a positive atmosphere. Our friends have dietary restrictions, but they were able to find plenty to enjoy without any hassle. Dave and I, on the other hand, don't have those issues (which is a good thing!). We kicked things off with piggyoza, which were perfectly soft yet crispy, juicy with a delicate crunch on the outside, and paired with a delicious sauce. I had the miso soup (easy, salty, and warm), a fresh and flavorful seaweed salad, and my favorite, the fishermen's roll loaded with fresh fish. Dave went for a spicy tuna roll, a California roll, and an incredible fried California roll (which I never would have ordered before, but I chose it for him, and it was amazing!). I also had a hot sake, while he enjoyed an Asahi beer. Everything was fantastic! Typically, when we try new places and the portions are smaller than the usual American sizes, Dave isn't thrilled about returning. However, he was genuinely impressed with this experience and suggested we make it a regular outing – both for our fun double dates and the great food! Outstanding and authentic Japanese cuisine! The attention to the visual presentation took me back to my experiences in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The service was excellent as well. It is a bit pricey, but for those who truly appreciate the entire dining experience, it’s definitely worth it. I will certainly be returning soon!

This place is fantastic! As a mother of three young kids, I'm so sick of eating mac and cheese all the time. I decided to order from Ichiban through Grubhub for a much-needed break from the children's meals. The food was fresh, delicious, and arrived on time. I think I've found my new favorite sushi spot in Murfreesboro! Here’s a photo of my takeout order today (after I had already eaten a third of it, haha!). I tried the Bagel Roll and the Rock Star Ichiban Roll - both were excellent. Plus, the rice actually had flavor!

I just moved here from Florida almost two months ago and this is the best sushi I found in the area. It was so disappointing everywhere. The hospitality of the waiters is also on the point. Definitely recommend. So glad I finally found a good sushi spot.

Authentic food amazing service and very fresh, this place completely lives up to the hype one of the best ramen we tried in Nashville. We’ll be going back here for sure.
