I hate to say it but the pizza really just wasn't very good. Flavorless is the best description I could give. Someone had a hoagie as well which they said wasn't great either. For these people to have such harsh things to say about free food really speaks volumes. I really should have found a place with a more extensive review history on yelp.
Awful. Go down to Cogo's and get a Tombstone Pizza. Much better
We gave this place a whirl as a different choice from our usual SQHill fare and we were pleased. The owner/manager made pretty much our whole order from scratch (with the exception of my daughter 's boneless wing bites, but everyone does that nowadays . I had an Italian wedgie , which I haven 't had in years, and it was tasty. My wife 's calzone was solid, had a ginormous salad and an order of fries (overkill didn 't need them. so this is also what we 're eating for leftovers today. Good value, and the owner is really proud of what she produces. As well she should it 's good, solid food. One recommendation do a double fry on fresh cut fries, the results will be night and day better. I don 't know why so many places don 't do this. If you take the time to hand cut fresh potatoes do the double fry.
If you visit the Pittsburgh area and you're close to The Waterfront, West Mifflin, Downtown or Monroeville area, it's worth the trip to a little place called Perrino's. Perrino's is a little market primarily for the community, but the creativity and charm of this place will keep you wanting to come back for more. Every day at 6A.M. they have breakfast options from fresh homemade breakfast sandwiches to breakfast pizza as well as lottery, drinks and everything in between, but it's at noon when things usually kick off. Any day of the week you can find fresh, crispy, pizza creations by the New York sized slice. From classic concoctions like Pepperoni, Mushroom and Plain to the Frankenstein creations like Big Mac Pizza, Reuben Pizza, Pierogi Pizza, Roast Beef Cheddar Pizza, Steak and Cheese (with fries on it) Buffalo Chicken and the hole gets deeper, (trust me you'll wanna go as far down the hole as possible). They have fantastic Burgers with the same creative flair with toppings and fillings and even do fresh cut fries made like the famed potato patch fries at Kennywood. They have fresh salads, crispy chicken, hoagies made with care and just the right amount of toppings. The menu would turn this review into an encyclopedia, just know, you're going to have multiple trips. The surprises of Perrino's daily specials is where you really get that loyal customer value. Always new one off creations from fresh sandwiches, experimental pizza toppings and fresh revolving deli. Family owned and operated, this place is perfect for breakfast lunch and dinner. With their new renovations in 2014 and the extra staff on hand, it makes it a relaxing environment to eat and talk with the locals. It's more personal than we are used to in the digital age so don't be surprised to see teens hanging out, regulars getting their daily necessities and laughing and jokes by the staff. It's a lot like those markets on movies you wish you could visit. Now go check out Perrino's!
