The Outspan

Fairly empty and no liquor license so expected the worst. But bottle store next door and bring your own wine. The worst of the meal was the wine which I chose! Seafood was excellent and ended up having an excellent meal relatively cheaply as no extravagant liquor bill. Definitely value for money and speedy service

Kalkbay has always been one of my favorite places on earth. It's a beautiful place with wonderful shops and restaurants. This is one of them. The staff was super inviting, friendly and super efficient. The food is humble, but absolutely fantastic. I recommend the line fish straight of the braai! Exceptional. The ribs were also super tender and flavourful. They don't have a liquor license, but they welcome you to bring your own booze for a small corkage fee (per table, not per bottle). Would go again and recommend it to whoever gets the opportunity

I was pleasantly surprised firstly with the friendly service (waiters and owners alike), secondly with the food (tasty main course and desert) and I could order a mixture of everything even though it's not as stated on the menu, thirdly the price was very reasonable and lastly, the location as amazing. Rating it with a (4) as they don't have a big variety of beverages, which will change and get better as time goes on, then they'll deserve a rating of (5). Thumbs up to Outspan

Under new management now and serving Portuguese food. Much improved ambience and better service. Food a bit of a mixed bag tho. Peri peri prawns were very good, as was the peri peri chicken. But the chicken trinchado was very disappointing: portion small, with dry overcooked chicken and a sauce that was more brown gravy than trinchado...
