Hofmatt - Münchenstein

I was there two weeks ago and it was a great experience. The food was fresh and the staff was friendly. I had the the Veal and I loved the sauce!

During our recent stay in the Hofmatt Hotel, we had dinner on two evenings in their restaurant. Overall, it was a pleasant experience on both nights. Even when not staying in the hotel, the restaurant is easy to reach and provides plenty parking space, with even more parking opportunities nearby. The atmosphere is okay. On the one hand side, the places were laid out well and the tables had nice, season matching decorations. On the other hand, the room as such could be a bit cosier and some of the tables stand a bit close to each other – which was great for us, since we wanted to have a big table, but makes having an intimate dinner-for-two a matter of getting the right table. It’s probably owed to the hotels main purpose of accommodating business travellers. The cuisine mostly is not to be faulted. They offer traditional Swiss with Mediterranean influences, with all the mainstream dishes expected on the menu. We appreciated the wide selection in vegetarian offers as well as the flexibility of preparing one of the lunch-time dishes for dinner without hesitation. The salads were fresh, the main courses mostly excellent and the desserts fine. What ruins the excellent rating was the first main course that I had – for my taste there was just not enough sauce on my tagliatelle. They still tasted good, so I did not complain, and all other food we had left nothing to desire. So a “very good” is well deserved here. For drink they offer a decent selection in wine, and to our joy we found a wonderful Amarone at a very fair price. Also, the Prosecco offered was good. Lastly, the service was friendly and attentive. Nothing to complain here. Overall, the Hotel Hofmatt Restaurant delivers what it promises, and is also worth a visit when not staying at the hotel, but in the area. We will certainly continue to dine there when in the hotel.
