Alpenblick-Passwang Gasthof

The restaurant is near the Passwang tunnel, in Canton Soloturn on one of the most popular mountain passes in the Jura area. It is best known for the fabulous view of the Swiss Midlands towards the Alps. On a fine morning you have a clear...view from the terrace to the Berner Oberland. It has a pretty good area for car parking, and for those needing a quick rest break permit people to use the toilets for 1 franc (free for restaurant visitors). The food is OK, burgers, steaks and salads, not Haupt Cuisine but good roadside restaurant fare. The Chocolate mousse I had was divine, my fellow traveler loved the apple pie. Service is OK, Swiss restaurants can be slow, the food came quick enough but we did need to chase the waitress to get the bill. Having traveled there a few times it can be good, can be bad. Prices are ok for Switzerland, snacks and coffee c. CHF15, bigger meal c. CHF35-40 Overall, this is a great space to stop on a road trip and is very biker friendly.

We were out for a sunny Sunday outing and ended up at this restaurant having traveled thru Passwang with the Post Autobus. The restaurant was full outside on the deck and virtually empty inside. We ordered their hamburger with a side of fries. We had...to wait 25 minutes for the meal to arrive as the kitchen is quite slow. However we were rewarded with very freshly prepared giant hamburgers oozing with sauce and all the usual trimmings including thinly sliced cucumber. Delicious. The fries were also served piping hot and quite obviously freshly hand made. The food served to other patrons seated near by looked good as well in terms of both quality and quantity. We were pleasantly surprised. The weather was sunny but hazy and no alps were to be seen. We'll be back in early winter with hopefully much better visibility.

It has a nice terrace. Unfortunately it was full. The restaurant is also very nice. Super nice people, our little one got a coloring book and pencils and extra sauce for Coup Denmark. Really great. Bravo. The food was great. We will be back.

If I could I wouldn't give a star. We sat outside right at the entrance to the inside. It was busy and the waiting times were accordingly, but that wasn't the problem. We could hear the boss yelling at his employees inside. Then we got up and left again.

Simply comfortable. With a great view. I had Rösti with mountain cheese egg, which was really very good
