We each ordered a drink and dinner while exploring the catacombs. Unfortunately, it took a full hour for our meals to arrive. Two of us ordered scallops, but to our disappointment, both sides served with them were cold. The other two had large salads with chicken added; while the chicken had decent flavor, it was sparse throughout the salad. In fact, the pieces in my salad were smaller than the croutons and difficult to chew. My son's New York steak was the only highlight of the meal. We ended up spending $313.00 for the five of us, and I believe our food should have been served hot, and the salads should have included a whole, fresh chicken breast. I could easily find many less expensive restaurants offering much better meals. If you're going to charge high-end prices, your chefs need to perform at that level—using leftover chicken and serving cold sides is unacceptable. I overheard the hostess mention they weren't very busy, so that excuse doesn't hold water. The two stars in my review are for the ambiance and our attentive waiter, who did bring us hot sides after we addressed the issue. At this point, I can't recommend Bubes unless you're just going for drinks.
This restaurant is a really cool place to dine. If you’re nearby, you should definitely go for the experience. The staff is fantastic. It can be a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the food!
This was my first time dining here with a large group. We were seated on the top floor, and because of the building's age, it felt as though the floor was moving slightly, which added a unique charm to the experience.
Update: The beer garden is incredibly relaxing and has a magnificent atmosphere. The salads are fresh and delicious, and the French fries are the best! I had the French dip, but I wish it was served on a ciabatta roll.
We went to Bubes Brewery last night and made the 1.5-hour trip to enjoy the unique atmosphere and fine dining in the catacombs. Unfortunately, the chef had different ideas. The crusted salmon and seafood pasta arrived at our table, looking tempting, but we were quickly disappointed. The pasta was incredibly dry, reminiscent of a poorly cooked dish. As for the salmon, it was perplexing how such a fish could be completely lacking in flavor; the chef certainly hit the mark there (though not in a good way). Overall, I wouldn't mind never returning to Bubes again.
