Oriental Pearl - Mount Alexander

We always enjoy the fresh food that we have at the pearl! The stuffed squid is the best that we have had. Any duck dish is always good too! Regardless of what you choose, it will be fresh and tasty!

Went for dinner with friends last night. The food is nice but the service is the worst I've experienced. I don't usually write reviews but I was really annoyed by this. When we arrived I asked for an ice bucket for my wine and had to remind the waiters 3 times afterwards (when they came to our table) over the space of 20 minutes. After that, I got a bit annoyed and got up to approach the bar - when the lady behind saw me coming she put all of about 4 ice cubes in a bucket and handed it to me. They then accidentally ordered prawn instead of beef wontons and asked if that was ok - I don't eat seafood but the rest of the table did so no big deal. For mains a friend order his meal to come without coriander (He doesn't like it - weird, I know). His meal came with coriander and when he refused it the waiter said that it was just garnish and not in the meal so he can just remove it. He then asked for coke zero and she brought back pepsi max and asked if it was ok? Individually these incidents wouldn't have been so bad but compounded it was an average experience. The meals were lovely but the service is so bad that we didn't want to wait to order dessert! Never again!

I had to get up 4 different times to get someone to serve us. We sent back a prawn hot pot because it had been so over cooked that the prawns had turned to mush. The food was very average. When we went to pay the owner tried to charge us for the prawn dish saying thats the way the Thai people like it....she reluctantly refunded our money. Wont be going back.

A group of 6 work mates went to the Pearl on a busy Monday night, we all found the meals from the large varied menu good but the service was very poor.We had to get up to organise someone to take our order and even then they got it wrong. We were halfway through a shared dish when they told us it was the wrong meal and took it away!!!When we asked for water and soya sauce the waiter said he was training and could not give it to us!!A bit like Faulty Towers!! A pity because the food was quite tasty.Don,t think we will return.

Nice food, that was tasty and quick. Service was ok and very kid friendly. Extensive menu with lots of options for sharing or single serves.
