La Mex - Morris

I discovered this restaurant during the Auto Show in Morris on Saturday night. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the decor was charming. The outdoor deck for dining was spacious and covered. I would definitely recommend it if you're in town.

We began our meal with a never-ending supply of corn chips and salsa, and we could request refried beans. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was delicious, including options for gluten-free diners. The service was attentive, and the staff was friendly. While the older building could benefit from a fresh coat of paint on the outside, it didn't detract from the overall quality of the meal. The prices were fair and competitive. It's not an upscale restaurant, but it was clean and welcoming.

They wanted to explore Dowtown Morris and choose LaMex. This is a step above your average Mexican restaurant. Pros Chicken taco was excellent, all white meat crushed in large pieces. Excellent taste. I also ordered Steak Taco and beef Taco to explore the menu and all 3 meats were suburbs! Will order again. Monday has Taco plate on special $11,95 (3 tacos with rice beans). Excellent deal in town, for quality. Chips red sauce freshly delicious. Guacamole is best in town! Cons-house margarita $10 small, medium is $20 for house tequila. (Tues Thursday offers half-price pitcher). Refried beans lack taste, will skip next time. Fried ice cream was average $5.95. A total of 5* little expensive, but it for high quality products. Service was friendly fast. Will return.

The Mexican cuisine here is incredibly delicious and the atmosphere feels genuinely authentic. However, the dim, yellowish lighting makes it challenging to see your food, and I believe it detracts from the overall experience. There is also a terrace available for outdoor dining.
