The Sixteen Twentynine - Moray

The food is delicious, but be prepared for a wait. The portions are generous and the service is pleasant. It's a popular spot, so make a reservation like we did. Our overall experience was enjoyable.

I sat at a table outside and waited to be served. I eventually got up and went inside to get a menu, where a waitress told me they would be with me shortly. Back at the table, I waited, but then saw the waitress jump into a car and drive off! I went back inside and sat at a different table where we finally received some service. We ordered our meal and overheard another waitress saying she would be leaving to take someone somewhere, and then she disappeared as well. We saw three staff members trying to serve customers both inside and outside. Our fish and chips meal arrived, but unfortunately the fish was a bit greasy and the tartare sauce was one of the worst I have ever had - I had to ask for it! No one checked in to see if we were enjoying our meal. When we paid the bill, the waitress did ask if everything was okay. Overall, the service needs to improve. I was not impressed.

We had a lovely meal one evening whilst staying in Lossie for two week, it was so good, we decided to go back for our last night finale. What a mistake that was, the service was shocking and the food was disappointing to say the least, such a shame and it wasn't cheap. They were more interesting in getting meals down the stairs to The Salt Cellar Restaurant and we were ignored. The seafood platter at over £25 was terrible.

This restaurant tends to get quite crowded, so it's recommended to make a reservation. The food was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly.

Twice had evening meals here and once a Sunday lunch while walking the Moray Coast Trail. Very tasty food. The 5-7pm dinner downstairs is particularly good value. Courteous service. Downstairs feels enclosed in a cavern but a pleasant atmosphere.
