The coffee at this restaurant is exceptional, specifically catering to coffee purists. Forget about lattes and cappuccinos, here you'll find only the finest beans expertly roasted by Andy and brewed to perfection by Sharon. Alongside my delicious coffee, I enjoyed a tasty cheese scone with butter. My colleagues also raved about the cakes. The Schoolhouse itself has a charming ambiance, with clean lines and attractive decor. The cafe is set in the old schoolroom, which reminded me of my first teaching experience, complete with a stove in the corner. The owners, Andy and Sharon, are fantastic hosts who make sure guests feel welcome and well taken care of.
The best bowls of cheese, soup was never very good, tea, coffee was very disappointing! However, that may have been a bad choice. Personally I felt the whole thing was too complicated, not just a wide variety of coffee, but three or four different ways to serve. The service was very slow and would have been fine if we could spend an hour or so, I'm sure some people might do. The prices were reasonable. I'd just go back to the bowls if nothing else.
My partner and I visited the Coffee Lounge during our visit to Scotland. They got us at the door and Andy and Sharon were the perfect hosts. They discussed the coffee menu with us, as well as the Dava mix suggestion serves was our choice served in a chemex. We enjoy the atmosphere of the school room and the selection of pastas.
In addition to great coffee, they also offer delicious cakes that rival those seen on baking competitions, and the tea room offers lovely views of Dava moor. This spot is ideal for enjoying a relaxing cuppa, although you may find it hard to leave with so many varieties to try! The staff here are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. This business truly deserves to thrive - cheers to them!
