Cafe Restaurant Le Globe - Montreux

We found the brassieres early and came. There was no one present to neither customers nor employees. We sat down and while we offered menus ordered drinks and a meal. The food was good. Not complicated. Others came in. A family of three generations. 4 Italians followed. The cheese fondue was a favorite. Next time, I'll try the bastards.

Good authentic food, good friendly service and excellent value. Simple wine menu but not overpriced, as many are in Switzerland.

Hier bekommt man eine gut bürgerliche vielseitige schweizer Karte zu anständigen Preisen geboten. Das Ambiente ist zum wohlfühlen und die Bedienung zuvorkommend freundlich und nicht aufdringlich!! Nächsten Besuch garantiert!

I have submitted 5 reviews to this little restaurant before, which gives him a great praise. It used to be a real timewarp, a bit darker and interesting clientele, because it is also a betting shop. The value, though, used to be excellent. Unfortunately, the new owners have enormously increased prices. While they have also swallowed the place up, the most important courses are the same prices as other, much more intelligent restaurants in Montreux. Regular local customers seem to have disappeared. How bad. I'll miss my visits here.

We stumbled over this little café. Not unusual, not big, looks like most locals. We had a filling dinner for 4 for not much more that hundred dollars according to Swiss standards that is quite reasonable. Had the Demi (small) fillet and it was... perfect size.
